Authentic, evidence-based therapy to help you find clarity, untangle burnout, and realign with your values.

Hi, I’m Emily. I am a Clinical Psychologist based in Byron Bay, offering secure telehealth therapy to adults (18+) across Australia.

After a decade working in corporate consulting, speaking, and the arts, I have recently re-opened my practice two days a week for focused, individual therapy. My practice combines clinical expertise with a grounded, non-judgmental, and practical framework. I tailor our sessions using evidence-based modalities, including:

  • Behavioural Neuroscience and Wellbeing Science

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

  • Mindful Self-Compassion

  • Schema Therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral?

No. You can see me privately without a referral. However, to claim the $145.25 Medicare rebate, you will need a referral letter and a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.

How many sessions can I claim?

You can claim rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year under Medicare’s Better Access scheme.

How do sessions work?

All sessions are conducted via secure, easy-to-use video call nationwide. (I plan to offer in-person Byron Shire sessions in the future).

What happens before my first session?

Before booking your initial appointment, we’ll schedule a short phone chat to discuss what you’re looking for, answer any questions, and ensure my approach feels like the right fit. Once confirmed, I’ll send you an online intake and consent form to complete before we meet.

Do you only work with neurodivergent women, creatives, and people in transition?

My primary focus is working with adults (18+) in these specific areas, however, if your specific situation falls outside these focus areas, you are still very welcome to reach out.

What if I’ve never been to therapy before?

No worries at all. The first session is a gentle, structured opportunity for us to explore what is bringing you to therapy, what your goals are, and whether my approach feels like the right fit for you.

What is the structure and length of a session?

Sessions are 50 minutes long. We will start on time, discuss what you’d like to focus on, and work through tailored strategies and insights.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to reschedule or cancel, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice incur a fee, as this time is reserved specifically for you and cannot easily be offered to another client.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my first session?

If you are claiming a Medicare rebate, please ensure you have emailed your GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan prior to our initial meeting, and completed your client intake and consent forms.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes. Decades of clinical research show that online telehealth therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions for most mental health concerns, including anxiety, burnout, and life transitions.

What technology do I need for video sessions?

You just need a stable internet connection, a laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a working camera and microphone, and a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable speaking freely.

What progress, you ask, have I made? I have begun to be a friend to myself.
